about-burma-kadaiBurma Kadai restaurant has its humble beginnings in the mid 1960’s. It might make you wonder why we are called “Burma” Kadai. The founder of the restaurant Mr. A.K.Velusamy, a successful businessman of Indian origin in Burma (now Mayanmar), returned to India due to the impact of the Coup d’Etat of 1962 in Burma. The then ruling Government supported the Burma returnees by providing a 12′ x 12′ petty shop for sustenance. We started our first restaurant in 1976 very close to the Muthurampatti Railway Gate (now covered by the fly-over) on the Aruppukkottai Road. In memory of Burma the short lived home of our founder, the restaurant was named as Burma Kadai. We specialize in a wide range of South Indian non-vegetarian gravies. Our food is prepared by experienced chefs who work tirelessly to make the best, fresh food, thus making it a very pleasant experience dining at Burma Kadai. At all our branches, we strive to offer a comfortable, tasty, quality dining environment to make your visit will be a memorable one.

We were the first restaurant in Virudhunagar to have exclusive space for family dining. As the restaurant crossed milestones over the decades, we are frequented by popular visitors. We undertake order for all types of occasions offering food of your specification and choice irrespective of the size of the gathering.

High quality and taste are of prime importance, and because of this our brand of Parotta and other food products have attained widespread popularity all across South India. There are numerous articles published in different journals about our Ennai Parotta and other food products. As a result of our efforts, the word “Burma Kadai” for a common man in Tamil Nadu today refers to High Quality Ennai Parotta.

Burma Kadai currently has two operational branches in Virudhunagar.
